It is believed that the shrine was established in the year 707 as a branch of the Usajingu in Kyushu. Two estimated eight hundred years old chinese juniper trees are a nationally designated natural monument. it has been reported that Minamotono Yoshitsune erected this shrine.
※ In the Japanese middle ages many high official were commanded by the Imperial court to live in the provinces and protect them.
